Susannah is originally from Tiburon, CA where she grew up with her parents, Norm and Suzy, and two older brothers, Scott and Tim. She swam competitively from age 10 through 22. She graduated from Stanford University with degrees in psychology and English. After working as a paralegal for two years following college, she attended law school at UCLA. In the years following law school, she held a number of different legal jobs including working as a law clerk to a federal judge, working at San Francisco law firms in real estate and estate planning, and finally, working at a small boutique estate planning firm in San Diego. In August of 2004, she left law and started graduate school in Marriage and Family Therapy (www.therapy-sandiego.com), a two year masters program that will allow her to work as a Marriage and Family Therapy counselor.
Susannah enjoys skiing, boogie boarding, reading, and hiking. She also cheers for the Bruins and the Cardinal, especially in college basketball. She loves to travel and has been to parts of the Far East, the Middle East and Europe.
Steve is originally from Palo Alto, California where he grew up with his parents Patricia and Robert Muller and his older brother Phil. After high school he move to Los Angeles to attend UCLA and later USC where he received degrees in electrical engineering. He then relocated to Newport Beach and eventually to San Diego working for semiconductor companies: Rockwell, PCSI, Conexant Systems and currently Broadcom.
Steve enjoys a number of sports: Running, Roller Blading, Volleyball & Snow Boarding. He likes to travel, having been to Asia, Europe and Australia. Steve also enjoys rooting for the Bruins, going to the Del Mar track, and feeding his pet fish.
Susannah and Steve met while members of the San Diego Chapter of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (“Jaycees”) and are still active members. The Jaycees are a community service organization dedicated to developing young leaders. Steve currently maintains their website and was President of the San Diego chapter in 2002.
Zoey is a twelve year old Springer Spaniel / Border Collie mix from the animal shelter in South-Central LA (an area infamous for being the starting point of the LA riots). As hard as it is to believe for those who know her now, fresh from the shelter, she was timid and shy. Since then, she has overcome most of her fears, with the exception of small children, and believes herself to be both a Princess and an Alpha Dog. She is a great watchdog and fiercely loyal and protective of her family. She has lived with Susannah since 1996.
Motley, who was rescued from an animal shelter in Marin County, is an English Setter, although his uncharacteristic ears and head shape indicate that he is not a purebred. He loves fetch, chasing birds and galloping in the waves at the beach. He has an affectionate, goofy personality, considers himself a ferocious hunter and is fascinated by cats. He has lived with Susannah since 1998.
